It is a critically important arm of the Government, having been created to both formulate and implement policies for economic development, ensure effective planning of the overall resources at the disposal of the Government, and coordinate the activities of all Ministries and Departments in this regard. The Planning Commission is a permanent, independent, and apex body established under Article of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The Commission has the responsibility of preparing, reviewing, and monitoring national plans in consonance with the National Development Policy, keeping in view the socio-economic priorities of the country.
